It doesn’t matter what the law requires in this instance. Get a light, a big bright light. If you get hit riding at night without a light, every jury in Texas is going to put a large percentage of negligence on you.
Does a bicycle have to yield to pedestrians?
You should. Even if you have the “right of way”,l hitting a pedestrian will probably end up hurting you as much as it does the pedestrian.

What if the driver is uninsured?
Your better have uninsured motorist coverage. If not, it is almost impossible for you to recover. Even if you sue the other driver and get a huge judgment, you likely won’t be able to collect a dime.
